About Karen
There is little I enjoy more than sharing knowledge , whether to a Kindergartener, a teenager, or a more mature student. When I see someone excited about mastering a new skill, I am happy and excited for them. I am of the belief that knowledge opens minds and with it doors to so much; we can go back in time, travel the world, share a common pleasure without a common language beyond the music itself. When it comes to music lessons, it is not just about the actual pieces themselves, but learning about the era, the composer, the time and place in history, along with the notes, the rhythm etc. I believe regardless of style pursued, new musicians need a solid foundation in theory and technique so that as they progress the basics are proficient enough that they may not struggle unprepared. I believe in teaching to each student's style of learning, one approach does not fit all, and am always open to new approaches to ensure my students not only learn correctly but enjoy doing so.

I am RCM graduate with many years experience teaching from kindergarten age to retirees and everything in between. I like to ensure a good technical basis for all students regardless of the age and style the student wishes to pursue, and include a wholistic approach so students are able to gain a firm grasp on the music regardless of all other variables. I like to work with each student to build on their individual strengths and interests, while sharing a love for music and inspiring the same for them.
