About Sara
Hi! I’m Sara, a certified teacher with 20 years of experience in education, working with learners from elementary school through university.
I am fully bilingual in French and English and have an academic background in both French and Biology, as well as a Bachelor of Education. Over the years, I have taught French, science, and a variety of other subjects in classroom, small-group, and individual settings. I have particular experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and helping learners find approaches that work for them.
As a teacher, I am patient, encouraging, and approachable, but I also believe students benefit from appropriate challenge and clear expectations. My goal is not simply to help students complete an assignment or prepare for a test, but to help them understand the material, recognize their strengths, and become more confident and independent learners.
I know that students sometimes seek tutoring because school has become frustrating or because they have started to believe they are simply “not good” at a particular subject. I enjoy helping students untangle those difficulties, experience some success, and discover that learning can feel much more manageable when concepts are explained in a way that makes sense to them.
Whether your goal is to catch up, keep up, prepare for an assessment, strengthen French language skills, tackle a challenging science concept, or simply feel more confident at school, I’m happy to meet you where you are and work from there.

I believe that effective tutoring is about more than simply getting the right answer—it is about helping students understand what they are learning, build confidence, and develop strategies they can use independently.
My approach is individualized, supportive, and responsive to each student's learning needs. I draw on my experience as a certified teacher to break concepts into manageable steps, explain ideas in different ways, and use examples that connect learning to students' interests and prior knowledge. I also recognize that students learn differently, so sessions may incorporate visual supports, hands-on activities, discussion, movement, practice problems, or other strategies depending on the learner.
A typical lesson begins with a brief check-in and review of what the student is currently working on and where they are experiencing difficulty. From there, we identify a focus for the session, work through concepts together, and gradually shift toward independent practice. I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while still providing the structure and encouragement needed to make progress.
What sets me apart is my broad background in education. I am a certified teacher with extensive experience teaching and supporting students at the elementary, middle, secondary, and post-secondary levels. My academic background includes both French and Biology, and I have taught a range of science courses as well as French-language instruction. I also have considerable experience supporting students with diverse learning needs and adapting instruction to make learning more accessible.
I currently offer tutoring in:
• French: Elementary through Grade 12, including French Immersion and French as a Second Language
• Science: Middle and high school science, including Biology and related life sciences
• Academic support: Study skills, organization, understanding assignments, and developing effective learning strategies
Lessons are appropriate for students who need additional support with challenging material, want to strengthen their skills or confidence, or are looking for enrichment beyond what they are currently doing in class. Sessions are adapted to the individual student rather than following a one-size-fits-all tutoring program.
