About Rachel
Having lectured some very large classes (300+), teaching 1-1 is a real joy for me because I can tailor to your needs and adapt as you progress. It is extremely rewarding to see my students build confidence, particularly in the world of statistics.

My style:
Confidence is often the biggest challenge for students particularly when learning statistics. My approach to teaching is adaptive which means that the pace of lessons and the challenges presented to you are dependent on how you are responding as well as formal feedback. This approach means that you will recieve a confidence boost because you will be challenged but not overwhelmed.
Sessions focus on hands-on practice with real-world, relatable examples which help to retain information and apply in new contexts. Where applicable, up to date research informs all teaching.
Critical thinking is highly encouraged and there are plenty of guided opportunites to apply this skill.

My background:
I have a BSc and PhD in psychology and neuroscience. I have since lectured at two UK universities for 6 years. I have also worked as a data scientist in industry for 2 years.
My specialism is research methods and statistics, and I have developed and taught modules in cognitive, developmental and forensic psychology as well as sensation and perception and introductory psychology containing a breadth of topics.
I have taught undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as research dissertation supervision. I am currently looking to tutor undergraduate levels 4-6.
