About Mitchell
I am a licensed professional, university professor, and published author of financial accounting and taxation textbooks. My teaching experience includes leading CPA review courses, and mentoring PhD students, where I’ve helped students master complex accounting concepts and prepare with confidence for professional exams. In addition to accounting, I specialize in college consulting for high school and early college students. I guide students through the admissions process, helping them select the right colleges, craft strong applications, and develop the soft skills—like communication, time management, and resilience—that are essential for thriving as a freshman. My background also includes extensive career advising. I work with students and professionals on resume evaluation, interview preparation, and career planning, ensuring they present themselves effectively and make informed choices about their future. Whether you’re preparing for the CPA exam, applying to college, earning a PhD, or planning your career, I bring a structured, supportive approach that connects theory to practice and helps you achieve your goals.

I hold a PhD and, with a record of over 50 published articles, many appearing in top-tier academic journals. In addition to my own scholarship, I have served as an associate editor for a leading journal and chaired a significant number of dissertation committees. These experiences have given me deep insight into the expectations of doctoral-level writing and research. My role as a coach is not to replace your dissertation chair, but to help you succeed by clarifying what your chair is looking for and guiding you in addressing those expectations. I focus on helping PhD students stay organized, manage the overwhelming demands of research and writing, and move forward with confidence. The biggest roadblock for many doctoral candidates is feeling overwhelmed; I work with you to break down complex tasks, structure your writing, and maintain momentum so you can complete your dissertation more efficiently and effectively. Whether you need support with research design, literature reviews, academic writing style, or responding to committee feedback, I bring both scholarly expertise and practical coaching strategies to help you meet your goals. My aim is to help you become more productive, less stressed, and ultimately successful in completing your doctoral work. I'm not a proofreader and not your writer, I am a coach, to look at your own work and what your chair requests, and to advise how you can make your work stronger to satisfy your committee and have a stronger document that ultimately improves your future research agenda beyond your PhD program and odds of publication.

Mitch is a patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me suceed in the CPA exam. I will be using Mitch as a coach and mentor to guide me through the CPA exam process. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking a CPA / Accounting tutor.
I worked with him for just over two years while completing my dissertation. His coaching was instrumental—without his guidance, I would not have graduated. He is exceptionally skilled, completely honest, and upfront in his approach. Be prepared: his feedback is direct and sometimes tough to hear, but it’s exactly what you need if you’re serious about succeeding.
His focus is on helping you truly learn the material. He won’t hand you answers, and if he senses you’re just “answer shopping,” he’ll walk away. Instead, he guides you toward finding solutions yourself, ensuring you grow through the process.
If you are committed to learning and willing to put in the work, he is the right person for you—book him. If you’re hoping to cram the night before an exam, avoid weeks of effort, or have someone else do your project, look elsewhere. There are plenty of cheaper options for that. Save his time for those who genuinely want to learn, because he is a rare and valuable find.See more recommendations
