About Wyn
Hello! My name is Wyn, founder of Chess with Wyn.
I graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and Psychology, where I developed a deep appreciation for how people learn, think, and solve complex problems. My academic background has shaped my coaching philosophy, allowing me to focus not only on improving chess skills but also on developing the cognitive habits that lead to long-term success.
As an online chess coach, I specialize in helping students strengthen critical thinking, pattern recognition, strategic planning, concentration, and confident decision-making. I believe chess is far more than a game, it's a powerful educational tool that teaches patience, resilience, creativity, and disciplined thinking.
Whether I'm coaching a child learning the fundamentals, an adult rediscovering chess, or a competitive player striving for their next rating milestone, my lessons are personalized to each student's goals, learning style, and pace. My objective is not simply to teach the best moves, but to help students understand why those moves work so they can think independently and continue improving long after each lesson.
Outside of chess, my passion for education, Neuroscience, and Psychology continues to inspire my approach to teaching. Every lesson is designed to be engaging, encouraging, and intellectually rewarding.
My coaching draws upon principles from Neuroscience and Psychology to help students develop stronger critical thinking, strategic reasoning, and decision-making skills.
