About Josh

I am a musician, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Newcastle upon Tyne with over 10 years of experience in music production, studio engineering, and songwriting. Working out of leading regional facilities like Blank Studios, I have engineered and produced records for a wide range of emerging and established UK artists, alongside touring nationally for over a decade.

As an active solo artist and Arts Council England grant recipient, I released my debut album in 2024 and continually write and produce new material. Having worked extensively across both sides of the glass - as a performing songwriter and a commercial studio producer - I hold a deep appreciation for the creative process.

I hold a BA (Hons) in music and have years of experience leading music education projects and mentoring emerging artists. I teach because I love helping people demystify the recording process and find their own creative voice. Whether you are looking to master your home studio setup, refine your arrangements, or build confidence on your instrument, my aim is to offer thoughtful, practical guidance tailored to your vision.

About the lesson

My approach to tuition is practical, supportive, and tailored entirely to your goals - whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time, writing songs, or aiming to bring your studio recordings up to a commercial standard.

I focus on real-world application, session deconstruction, and workflow. For music production and mixing, Logic Pro is my primary DAW (I also have experience in Pro Tools, Ableton & Cubase) we can easily cover recording techniques, vocal processing, arrangement, and strategies for taking demo ideas across the finish line into completed tracks. We will break down real studio sessions and arrangement structures to see exactly how professional records are built.

For guitar, piano, and songwriting, we learn through real songs and ear-training—applying music theory directly to serve your creative output rather than focusing on classical grades or exam syllabuses. Standard sessions are 60 minutes, run either in-person or online, and are open to all levels. As a university-trained graduate, self-producing artist, and experienced music mentor, my goal is to nurture your craft and give you total confidence in a collaborative, creative environment.
