About Spencer

I am an experienced Psychology teacher and Head of department with a first class BSc Psychology degree who not only studied the subject at A level myself, but also has six years' worth of experience in delivering the subject to others following the A level AQA specification. During my A levels, I was so grateful for the support provided by my own teachers that I have always wanted to offer the same level of support back to students today. I know how challenging A levels are and also how challenging this subject can be having struggled in Year 12 studying it myself. But there is always time to make those significant U-turns and push ourselves in the right direction as we approach the exam season. I have delivered the subject across a variety of schools and colleges whilst also providing extra mentoring and revision where possible outside of lesson and term time. Students should feel well equipped and ready in facing their examinations in the Summer and I ensure that every student I teach is in this position. Through my experiences as a teacher, Head of department and TLR member, I have a strong awareness of how to deliver content to a high standard whilst using appropriate methods to ensure learning is accessible for all. A levels are tough and post-16 study can bring anxious moments. But with the right support and guidance, you really can find the key to open up your future pathways.

About the lesson

I ensure each session is related and tailored to the specific needs of the student. The first session will last for 30 minutes and will be free as it will be used to discuss goals, areas of focus and any other queries one might have. Following this, each session will be 1 hour (unless more are arranged) and will involve a variety of recap activities, consolidation of content and ending with some form of exam practice acting as a learning check. Sessions will be interactive and extra resources can also be provided. Sessions can be based on any areas of content or exam technique within the AQA A level Psychology specification for both Year 12 students (following the updated specification) and Year 13 students (following the current specification).
