About Claire

Growing up around farming has given me a practical understanding of many of the topics covered on the Leaving Cert course. I love being able to bring these real-life examples into my teaching, as I find it helps students understand the theory rather than simply learning information off by heart.

I am particularly passionate about livestock production and breeding, and I enjoy showing students how what they learn in Agricultural Science relates directly to modern Irish farming.

As a teacher, one of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing a student become more confident in a subject they may previously have found difficult. I enjoy breaking complicated topics down, helping students improve their exam technique and seeing their hard work translate into results.

I want my grinds to be a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, while still being focused on achieving the best possible Leaving Cert result.

About the lesson

My Leaving Cert Agricultural Science grinds are exam-focused, structured and tailored to each individual student. My aim is not only to help students understand the course content, but to teach them how to turn that knowledge into marks in the Leaving Cert exam.

Lessons focus on clear explanations of key topics, followed by targeted past-paper questions, marking-scheme analysis and exam technique. Students are provided with professional, comprehensive notes and revision resources, making it easier to study and revise independently between lessons.

I hold a 1.1 in BSc (Hons) in Sustainable Agriculture and in the Professional Master of Education, and I currently teach Leaving Cert Agricultural Science. I have experience teaching students across a range of abilities, including supporting students aiming for the highest grades, with many past pupils achieving H1 results.

Lessons are typically one hour online and are suitable for 5th and 6th Year Leaving Cert Agricultural Science students, whether they are struggling with particular topics, looking to improve their grade or aiming for a H1.

Above all, my approach is supportive, approachable and results-driven. Every student has different strengths, so lessons are adapted to identify gaps in knowledge, build confidence and ensure they are fully prepared for the Leaving Certificate examination.
