About Jeanne
As a recently retired and credentialed teacher I have both the experience and time to help your child grow the skills that will lead to the personal confidence necessary not only for academic achievement but for a promising future. Whether it's a lack of basics, difficulty comprehending the content of questions, requirements for a project, or assistance in interpreting a piece of literature, I can help. I have assisted students at all levels from language learners to gifted. With my additional background as a professional editor, I am able to edit and refine any item of written work from simple sentence structure to essays and college research papers. My former students now include successful business owners, professional writers, nationally recognized therapists and even a state senator.

I am an experienced retired secondary teacher with the time to spend one-on-one to help your child achieve success at school.
My lessons include all aspects of writing from sentence structure to paragraph development to essays, as well as reading comprehension and literary analysis of all genres - fiction, non fiction and poetry. After introducing a concept or discussing a topic, students are given time to ask questions, then practice independently. I review work and give constructive feedback and sometimes allow students to direct the lesson themselves. I utilize Google docs which, among other things, offers a student friendly interactive editing platform. I focus on building connections with students to strengthen engagement and help students reach full potential through skill building. I plan activities and projects to diversify instruction and better immerse students in subject material. I endeavor to promote curiosity and a love of learning which I feel is significant in boosting educational success.
