About Jemma

I am an enthusiastic and adaptable percussion teacher with extensive experience in working with people of all abilities and backgrounds, including those with SENDs, dementia, mental illness and visual impairments.
I believe in catering my teaching approach to each individual and managing our lessons effectively to achieve the best possible outcome and ensure pupils reach the heights of their potential, whilst keeping the lessons enjoyable and providing pupils with a skill set to apply to many different aspects of life.
I have been working in music education for more than five years, having delivered countless workshops, 1:1 lessons, group lessons, ensemble coaching sessions and masterclasses.
As a performer I have experience as a soloist both abroad and in the UK, and as an ensemble player having worked on musicals and operas, in orchestras and brass bands, percussion ensembles, in circus, in world music ensembles and more.
I have studied for four years at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under esteemed percussionists and teachers including Henry Baldwin of the LPO, Patrick King of WNO, Steve Barnard of BBCNOW, Owen Gunnell of O Duo, the BBC Concert Orchestra and London Sinfonia, and more. Additionally, I have received lessons in teaching from Jayne Obradovic, Head of Student Experience and Well-being and Percussion Department and Summer Schools Co-ordinator at Wells Cathedral School, and Phil Girling of the WNO.
I have also received safeguarding training.

About the lesson

I cater my lessons to each pupil, ensuring we are getting the most out of our time together and they are reaching their full potential and then pushing these limits even further. I aim to nurture my pupils interests and passions while supplying them with the skill set needed to cover an array of opportunities.
