About Reed
I am a London-based French tutor with eight years of teaching experience in both classroom and one-to-one settings. I hold a BA in French literature with High Honours from Kenyon College (USA) and have also studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. At Kenyon I was certified to teach in the Kenyon Intensive Language Module programme and received several departmental awards. While living in Paris I taught English at L'Ecole Alsacienne to students from ages ten to eighteen. I have two years of teaching experience with a highly regarded tutoring agency in London where I have significantly helped improve my students' test and essay results. My own interests range from 18th century literature (Choderlos de Laclos, Madame de Lafayette) to Proust, on whom I wrote my undergraduate dissertation. I am passionate about languages and travelling, and also speak Italian and German. I am equally comfortable teaching children and adults at all levels of experience. Most importantly, I aim to tailor my lessons to suit the needs and interests of each of my students. I am based in Hampstead in North London but am happy to travel for lessons. I also hold an MA (First class) in international law from SOAS and a BA in acting from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Reed is a great teacher, very knowledgeable and thoughtful. I've really enjoyed talking to him, and he makes you want to converse, which I think is very important when you're learning a language!
