About Paul

I am a dedicated guitar teacher and the founder of Lyceum Guitar Academy. I work with kids, teens, and adults, and my goal is to help students build real confidence through clear, structured lessons. I believe learning guitar should be enjoyable, but it should also make sense, so students are not just copying shapes without understanding what they are doing.

My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and tailored to the individual. Some students want to start from the very beginning, while others want to improve technique, rhythm, chords, fretboard knowledge, or overall musicianship. I enjoy helping each student progress at their own pace and develop a stronger connection to music over time.

About the lesson

I offer structured in-home guitar lessons for kids, teens and adults across the Northern Beaches and North Shore. My approach is practical, encouraging and personalised to each student’s level, whether they are complete beginners or already have some experience. I focus not only on songs and chords, but also on helping students understand how music works, so progress feels clear and meaningful.

Lessons are tailored to the individual and can include chords, rhythm, technique, reading, fretboard knowledge, improvisation, song learning and general musicianship. I aim to make lessons engaging and enjoyable while still giving students a strong foundation. Each lesson is designed to build real confidence, with clear guidance on what to practise between sessions.

Absolutely yes! The first session went really well. Both students were engaged, enthusiastic and picked things up quickly. They have a great energy together and I can already see a lot of potential. Looking forward to building on that in the coming weeks and tailoring the lessons around what they enjoy most. A pleasure to work with!

My rates reflect personalised, in-home guitar lessons that are tailored to each student’s age, level and goals. Lessons are designed to be structured, engaging and practical, so students build real confidence over time rather than just learning random songs without a clear foundation.

I teach kids, teens and adults, from complete beginners through to students who want to strengthen technique, rhythm, chords, fretboard knowledge and overall musicianship. In-home lessons also provide added convenience for families and working adults.

I am happy to discuss lesson length and the best format depending on the student’s needs. I also offer a free trial lesson so students and families can get a feel for the approach before committing.
