User Experience (UX) design is a critical discipline in today's digital world, focusing on creating meaningful and enjoyable experiences for users when interacting with digital products and services. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles, methods, and techniques of UX design. Through a combination of lectures, practical exercises, and real-world projects, students will learn how to design user-centric digital experiences that are effective, efficient, and delightful.
Course Outline:
Introduction to UX Design: Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of UX design, including the importance of user-centric design, the principles of usability, and the key elements of the UX design process.
User Research: Students will learn how to conduct user research to understand user needs, preferences, and behaviors. They will learn various research methods, such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing, and how to analyze and apply research findings to inform the design process.
Information Architecture: Students will learn how to structure and organize information in a digital product to create intuitive and efficient user experiences. Topics may include content strategy, navigation design, and information hierarchy.
Interaction Design: Students will learn how to design effective interactions between users and digital products. Topics may include user flow, wireframing, and prototyping, and students will learn how to create interactive prototypes using tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.
Visual Design: Students will learn the principles of visual design and how to create visually appealing and engaging digital interfaces. Topics may include color theory, typography, and visual hierarchy, and students will learn how to create visual design assets using design tools.
Usability Testing and Evaluation: Students will learn how to conduct usability testing to evaluate the effectiveness of their designs and identify areas for improvement. They will also learn how to analyze and interpret usability test results to inform design iterations.
Design Thinking and Problem Solving: Students will learn the principles of design thinking and how to apply it to solve complex UX design problems. Topics may include ideation, prototyping, and design iteration, and students will engage in design thinking exercises to apply the concepts learned.
UX Design Project: Students will apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course to a real-world UX design project. They will go through the entire UX design process, from user research and information architecture to interaction design and visual design, and present their final design solution.
Course Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
