About Lily

Hello! I'm a working actor, writer, reviewer and director from Newcastle. I studied a Bachelor's Degree in Performing Arts (Acting) at JMC in Sydney and then furthered my studies at the Stella Adler School of Acting in New York.

I have worked alongside incredible industry professionals like Nicole Kidman, Luke Ford and George Miller. I have written and directed numerous short films and plays in Newcastle, Sydney, New Zealand and Melbourne.

Teaching allows me to develop my understanding of my craft and helps me to network with other artists in the industry.

About the lesson

I love the process of developing scripts. Tailor my classes to the students needs. I usually work with my students by finding the main ideas and themes within a given concept. We then uncover what the best way to portray them for the given medium would be.

Within regular classes, we work through concept creation, uncovering the themes and ideas, guidance on research, scene structure, script structure, fleshing out characters, understanding beneficial theatre styles, discovering actor and crew perspective and overall writing feedback.

We also look at other scripts, break them down and analyse how they work cohesively, what elements could benefit our work and how actors and crew might interpret them.

As well as giving feedback, I also provide information on producing, grants, competitions and sponsorship.

I provide touring for HSC Acting students majoring in script writing or film and HSC Ext English 2 students majoring in stageplays. Following the HSC syllabus, I work in depth with the students and their screenplays and stageplays.
