About Rouru
Kia Orana! I'm Rouru - a Bachelor of Business student majoring in Applied Management with a strong passion for communication, writing, and supporting students to succeed.
I have experience as a mentor and tutor with the Tongan Youth Trust, where I worked closely with Pasifika youth to support their academic progress and personal development. Through this role, I developed a strong commitment to youth advocacy, which is a big reason why I’m passionate about tutoring. I genuinely care about supporting young people to grow in confidence, find their strengths, and succeed in their goals.
I’m especially passionate about oratory because it’s deeply connected to who I am. As a Pasifika person, our knowledge and stories were passed down through oral traditions; through storytelling, music, and the arts. Before writing and formal systems, our voices carried our history and identity. That’s why public speaking and expression feel natural to me, and why I’m passionate about helping others find their voice and confidence.
I’m approachable, patient, and reliable, and I aim to create a space where students feel comfortable to learn, grow, and build confidence in their abilities.

My tutoring approach is personalised, supportive, and focused on building both confidence and strong writing skills. I adapt each lesson to suit the student’s needs, whether that’s improving essay structure, refining CVs, or developing public speaking and oratory skills.
I guide students through planning, writing, and editing so they can improve their work while also gaining skills they can use independently. Lessons are typically 60 minutes and can include feedback, practice exercises, or focused support on assessments.
As a former mentor and tutor with the Tongan Youth Trust, I have experience supporting Pasifika youth in their academic journeys and creating a comfortable, encouraging learning environment.
My lessons are suited for NCEA and tertiary students, as well as anyone wanting to improve their writing, communication, or confidence.
