About Laura
I am an experienced educator with more than 14 years of teaching experience and a Master of Education from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education.
Throughout my career, I have taught English, reading, writing, and literacy skills to students with a wide range of academic needs and learning styles. I have also served as a Special Education Department Chair, which strengthened my ability to identify learning challenges, adapt instruction, and provide the individualized support students need to make meaningful progress.
I believe students learn best when they feel supported, understood, and appropriately challenged. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and structured. I take the time to understand each student’s strengths and areas for growth, and I explain concepts in clear, manageable steps.
My goal is to help students improve their academic performance while also building confidence, independence, and skills they can use long after our sessions end. I am dependable, professional, and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking pride in their progress.

I provide personalized reading and writing tutoring for middle and high school students who want to improve their grades, strengthen their skills, and become more confident learners.
I have more than 14 years of experience as an educator, including extensive experience in special education. This background allows me to support students with a wide range of learning needs, strengths, and academic challenges. I understand that every student learns differently, and I tailor each lesson to the student’s grade level, current assignments, learning style, and academic goals.
I can help students with reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay writing, paragraph development, grammar, vocabulary, research papers, test preparation, and revising or editing written work.
My approach is supportive, structured, and practical. I break challenging assignments into manageable steps and provide clear feedback that students can immediately apply. Rather than simply correcting their work, I teach students how to understand what they are reading, organize their ideas, develop stronger arguments, and revise their own writing.
Students may bring current school assignments to our sessions, or I can provide targeted instruction and practice based on the specific skills they need to strengthen. My goal is not only to help students improve an individual grade, but also to build the reading and writing skills, confidence, and independence they need to succeed throughout middle school, high school, college, and beyond.
