About Gillian

I have been tutoring, outside school, for one year however I have been a Computing Teacher for 10 years. To date, I have seen five students through their GCSE/A Level through tutoring.

I have a proven track record to aiding students to obtain the best grade they can within the subject.

Since I also am involved in examining and moderating for the exam boards, I have a good knowledge of what they are looking for from the student, both for exam papers as well as the NEA projects.

About the lesson

I am a fully qualified teacher (QTS) and have been teaching computing and ICT in secondary schools for the past 11 years. Prior to that, I was a software developer in industry for 12 years. I currently am teaching computer science and ICT to students in KS3, GCSE and A-level. I have previously taught BTEC Level 2 and 3 for many years. I also am an examiner for BTEC Level 2 and 3 ICT and computer science as well as marker for AQA in GCSE computer science and A-level ICT.
I feel very strongly about assisting students to do the very best they can to achieve the highest possible grade they can. I am spend a lot of time going over topics with my tutees to make sure they feel very confident about it and also go through many exam questions relating to the topic in order they feel confident in answering the question to a high standard.
I am very patient and will spend time on a topic until the student understands it completely. I find the best way to understand a topic is to break it down into manageable chunks. These chunks are then gone over until the student understands them completely. I have a proven track record of helping students to gain the highest grades they are capable of. I love to keep up with current technology and bring examples into lessons.
One of the reasons I went into teaching was my experience as a girl guide leader in which I worked with many young girls to gain skills in many different areas. I was working as a software developer in industry and decided I really wanted to share my experience with the youth of today as they will be our future.
