About Shalini

I am an experienced and dedicated computer science educator with over a decade of teaching and training experience. My academic background includes a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University and a Bachelor’s degree in the same field from Visvesvaraya Technological University. I am passionate about sharing knowledge and fostering a positive, engaging learning environment where students can thrive. Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of computer science subjects, including programming languages (Python, C, C++, Java), data structures, algorithms, software development, and advanced topics like the Internet of Things (IoT) and cybersecurity. My teaching approach emphasises both theoretical understanding and practical application, allowing students to connect classroom concepts with real-world scenarios. I currently work as a Computer Science Tutor at GoStudent, where I provide personalised instruction to GCSE and A-level students. Additionally, I serve as a Guest Faculty member at BITS Pilani, delivering lectures for working professionals through the Work Integrated Learning Programme. My previous roles as an Assistant Professor at K S School of Engineering and Sri Sairam College of Engineering have equipped me with strong curriculum development, classroom management, and student mentorship skills. I am committed to continuous learning and professional development. I have completed advanced courses from prestigious institutions, including IIT Madras and IIT Kharagpur, and hold memberships in professional organisations such as IEI, ISTE, IAENG, and IFERP. My experience extends beyond the classroom—I have coordinated extracurricular activities, guided student research projects, and played a key role in bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. My goal is to inspire and empower students by providing them with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the ever-evolving field of computer science.

The key topics I teach include: 1. **Programming Languages** – Python, C, C++, and Java, focusing on both introductory and advanced levels. 2. **Data Structures and Algorithms** – Fundamental and advanced algorithms, with emphasis on problem-solving and computational efficiency. 3. **Design and Analysis of Algorithms** – Systematic methods for algorithm design and their real-world applications (including content from IIT Madras courses). 4. **Internet of Things (IoT)** – Concepts and practical applications, based on my coursework from IIT Kharagpur. 5. **Software Development** – Best practices for software engineering, including project design and implementation. 6. **Computer Science Fundamentals** – Core subjects like databases, operating systems, and computer architecture. 7. **Cybersecurity Basics** – Foundational knowledge gained during my internship at Cyberinitiation. 8. **Advanced Topics for Professionals** – Specialised content for working professionals through my guest faculty role at BITS Pilani, combining academic rigour with practical insights. I carefully plan my lessons to cater to diverse learning needs, using both formative and summative assessments. I emphasise active learning through problem-solving exercises, case studies, and real-world applications, fostering a deep understanding of computer science principles.
