About Shimon
As a dedicated Child Rights Activist and Trainer, I have spent the last 3 years working towards child rights, protection, participation, and empowerment of children. My work is grounded in the belief that every child deserves to grow up in an environment that fosters their development, protects their dignity, and ensures their rights are upheld. Professional Background I hold a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance and have extensive experience working with children and communities to advocate for child rights. I lead Child Resource Center (CRC) in Mandala, providing educational support and fostering leadership skills. Additionally, I organize and mentor women’s groups focused on child protection and community development, building engagement with government systems to drive sustainable change. In my work, I have facilitated the formation of children’s and women’s groups to empower them as leaders of change in their communities. I also collaborate with resettlement colonies and schools to implement nature-based solutions. To raise awareness, I perform street plays addressing critical social issues within the community In my current role at YUVA (Youth for Unity and Voluntary Action), I am working as the Consultant for the Child Rights program, where I contribute to ongoing child rights and participation programs and campaigns. I conduct sessions focused on child protection. Additionally, I work to enhance children's participation in local governance by providing training alongside children and local stakeholders. My aim is to empower child groups to foster meaningful participation and develop campaigns related to child protection. This work is crucial for ensuring the rights and safety of children. Why I Do This Work My passion for child rights stems from a deep conviction that children are the most vulnerable yet the most resilient members of society. Witnessing the injustices many children face around the world, from lack of access to education to exploitation in labor, drives my commitment to ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are respected. I believe that through education, advocacy, and policy change, we can create a world where every child is safe.
