About Thomas
Hello, I’m Thomas, an experienced Computer Science and Information Technology teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience.
I am passionate about helping students understand technology, develop problem-solving skills and achieve their academic goals. My teaching experience includes working with students at different levels, from beginners who are building their foundations to advanced students preparing for international examinations.
I specialize in Computer Science, Information Technology, programming and examination preparation**, with experience teaching areas such as Python, JavaScript, databases, spreadsheets, networking, web technologies and computer systems.
My lessons are structured, practical and adapted to each student's individual needs. I believe that students learn best when they are encouraged to ask questions, practice what they have learned and understand the reasoning behind each concept rather than simply memorizing answers.
As a tutor, I am patient, approachable and committed to student progress. I create a supportive learning environment where students can make mistakes, ask questions freely and gradually develop confidence and independence.

My Teaching Approach
I am Thomas, an experienced Computer Science and Information Technology teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. My approach is practical, student-centered and focused on helping learners understand concepts rather than simply memorizing information.
I begin by understanding each student's current level, learning goals, strengths and areas that need improvement. I then adapt my lessons to suit the student's pace and learning style. I use clear explanations, practical demonstrations, worked examples, guided practice and questioning to help students develop confidence and independent problem-solving skills.
For programming lessons, I believe students learn best by writing and testing code themselves. I therefore combine explanation with hands-on coding exercises, debugging activities and progressively more challenging problems. For theory-based subjects, I use real-world examples, diagrams, discussions and examination-style questions to make abstract concepts easier to understand.
A Typical Lesson
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous learning and a discussion of the lesson objectives. I then introduce the new concept using a simple explanation and relevant examples. This is followed by guided practice, where we work through problems together.
The student then completes practical or examination-style tasks independently while I provide guidance and constructive feedback. We conclude with a short review of the key ideas, identify areas requiring further practice, and agree on a suitable task or learning target for the next lesson.
I do not believe in rushing through a syllabus. My priority is to ensure that the student genuinely understands what has been taught and can apply the knowledge independently.
What Sets Me Apart
What sets me apart is the combination of substantial classroom teaching experience, subject knowledge and practical experience preparing students for international examinations.
I have experience teaching Computer Science and IT at different levels, including Cambridge and other international programs. I can therefore support students not only with learning the subject but also with understanding examination requirements, answering questions effectively, managing practical tasks and improving their overall examination performance.
I am patient and approachable, but I also challenge students to think critically and solve problems independently. I particularly enjoy helping students who initially find programming or technical concepts difficult to develop confidence and discover that they are capable of succeeding.
