About James
I've been a professional in the media industry for over 20 years. My career started just nine months after I graduated, editing on the one and only Teletubbies! Since then, I’ve directed and edited for the BBC, ITV, and Channel 5, and worked on huge brands like Doctor Who and Call the Midwife. Today, alongside my professional work, I'm a Module Leader at MetFilm School, where I literally write the courses on post-production. So you're not just getting a tutor, you're getting an active, passionate industry veteran.

My teaching is all about getting hands on and creating things. I’ve directed everything from Channel 4 documentaries to primetime BBC shows, so I teach you how the industry really works. Our sessions will be practical, creative, and built around what you want to achieve. I'll show you the tips and tricks that helped me get ahead in my career. I teach everyone from absolute beginners to university students and seasoned industry professionals. A typical lesson is a 60 or 90-minute deep dive into your project or learning goal. In our first session, we'll map out a plan to get you where you want to be. It's relaxed, it's collaborative, and it's 100% focused on you.
