About Kathy
Any student that I have taught will tell you that Madame has a lot of energy and loves finding new and interesting things for them to learn. They will also tell you that Madame has a great sense of humor and enjoys connecting with her students. I always try to find ways for my students to interact with information and skills in fresh and exciting ways. While paper tasks are important, I make sure there are many other ways to show what my students have learned. These include things like puppet shows, art and science projects, computer presentations, and online research and games. The variety keeps things fresh, while ensuring that many learning needs and styles are included. My class is one full of active learning, and my students are happy to participate in all aspects of learning.

With many years of experience not only teaching but also experiencing life and communities around the world, I enjoy providing a world context to my teaching. I have a great deal of energy and work hard to tailor my lessons to the students in my care. Student success is my goal, and I aim to reach people in ways that interest and engage them. During any given lesson, there is time for discussion and connection before moving on to the main goal. I plan with the end in mind, so students have all the tools they need to meet the outcomes. For example, in order to prepare my students to create a weather report in French, we learned Canadian geography, numbers, and weather vocabulary. This learning all came together when they presented their written report and created a mock televised report for the class. For most of my career I have taught French Immersion, from grades 3 to 12. I have also delivered Core French classes to all grade levels. I love finding ways to engage my students and to make them feel confident in their abilities while stretching them and acquiring new ones! In the end, I teach children, not subjects.
