About Mai

I am a native Japanese and a qualified tutor. I am living in England with my husband and our 5 years old daughter. Enjoy friendly and fun Japanese lessons with me!

Back in Japan, I had friends from overseas, and I taught one of them with Minna no Nihongo. It was really exciting.
I’ve visited 16 countries and met a lot of people with diverse backgrounds.
I like to go to music events and do outdoor activities. One of my best travelling memories was kayaking in the Baltic Sea in Finland. It was beautiful.
What I used to do in Japan was hiking, going to Onsen, and then Izakaya with my friends. I miss Onsen culture so much. I can show you some hidden gems in Japan.

I worked in Tokyo for over 10 years, so if you’d like to work in Japan, I can help you with writing your CV and practicing for interviews.

It’s not easy to learn languages but it opens your mind and world if you are passionate about learning. I can support you to achieve your goal.

Perfect! Mai is brilliant - she teaches my son and has brought a tonne of energy, insight and just a really positive all round approach to it. Mai is great at customising her teaching to her student, and using a range of techniques to maintain interest and enthusiasm, all whilst unlocking the Japanese language. I really recommend her!

Perfect! Mai Sensei is incredibly knowledgeable and teaches very clearly.

Chris san is very fun and enjoyable. He has great hobbies which are kyudo and kendo(I'd like to try one day), so hope he will improve his Japanese and enjoy time in Japan in the future!
