About Ernesto

I’m Ernesto Pezzi, an Italian curator, author, theater director, and creativity educator based in Faenza. For over twenty years I have explored the intersections of contemporary art, theater, psychoanalysis, and education, always with a focus on how creativity actually works — not as a mysterious gift, but as a trainable process.

I created and lead educational programs such as MozArt (contemporary music composition for young people) and Arte Superiore (high-school students curating real exhibitions), and I conceived Artbreakers, a reality-TV-style project at MAMbo Museum in Bologna to bring new audiences closer to contemporary art.

I am also a collaborator on projects with CUNY (City University of New York), where I contribute to initiatives that deeply analyze masterpieces of cinema, using them as powerful tools to explore creative processes, narrative structures, and visual language.

As an author, I wrote Fellini 8½ Creativity Handbook, a practical guide that uses Federico Fellini’s masterpiece — together with other works across different artistic languages — to offer multimedia exercises that help anyone expand their creative range. My other book, Alice’s Room: Theater, Childhood, Creativity, examines how theatrical space and childhood imagination have shaped modern self-perception.

In my coaching and workshops, I bring together these experiences to guide people in discovering their own creative process. Through analysis of films, performances, visual art, music, and more — including the cinematic masterpieces we explore in my collaborations with CUNY — we develop playful yet structured multimedia exercises that reveal unexpected ways of thinking, making, and expressing — for both personal fulfillment and professional growth.

About the lesson

In these personalized creativity education sessions, we will dive deep into the creative process by analyzing Federico Fellini’s masterpiece 8½ alongside other extraordinary works of contemporary art — spanning film, theater, visual arts, music, performance, and beyond, across different languages and genres.
Through this rich, interdisciplinary exploration, we will develop a series of practical, multimedia exercises specifically designed to bring you closer to the processual techniques of creativity: the ways in which great artists generate ideas, navigate uncertainty, embrace intuition, break conventions, and transform chaos into meaning.
Working in a truly multimedia way — combining writing, drawing, movement, sound, improvisation, visual collage, and other expressive languages — you will experiment freely, surprise yourself, and unlock the most unexpected and authentic results.
The goal? Not to imitate the masters, but to awaken and expand your own unique creative voice, discovering new ways of seeing, feeling, and creating — both in your personal life and in your professional or artistic pursuits.
