About Christopher

I currently have no teaching experience but being the oldest sibling of 3 (youngest 12), I played a vital part in helping my working parents with my younger siblings homework tasks and giving extra lessons and educational activities in English and other subjects. Being able to help my younger siblings with homework and school projects on a daily basis really gave me insight into the rewards of helping individuals perform in their studies and personal development. I can confidently say that helping my siblings has given me so much experience with regards to teaching, development, consistency, structure and patience.

I believe in the importance of creative, fun, interactive lessons where students don’t feel pressured to perform but rather focus on self-development, where they are happy to ask questions and express themselves. I also believe in praising students when they get something right and correcting them when they make mistakes, in a way that doesn’t shame or embarrass them but rather addresses where they made the mistakes so they feel safe to keep practicing to achieve their goals.

I would like to teach English because I know it’s a universal language that can have so many benefits for students. It’s a language they will be able to use for the rest of their lives that will help them excel in their work and personal lives. Seeing students achieve their goals and knowing I was a part of it brings me so much happiness.

I feel that I am a competent English teacher as English is my first language. I have grown up using English at advanced levels in every day life and was taught English throughout my school career. I personally exceled the most in English as a subject in high school and was known for my creative essay writing skills. I also attended extra English lessons during that time. I am confident in delivering the English language to the students I will teach.

My classes would be interactive and exude positivity. My students would experience a sense of fun and feel confident in attempting new challenges, even if they make mistakes. My students will gain knowledge of the English language and insight into the Western culture.

About the lesson

My teaching method is the 'discussing style' which promotes learning through interaction. I encourage critical thinking and lively discussion by asking students to respond to challenging questions. I like to give students information and time to discuss and feel confident in answering
