About Daisy

With a couple of years experience as a tutor predominantly in Psychology at an A-Level standard or assisting undergraduates, to whom I offer help with managing the syllabus material; structuring excellent examination essay answers (assuring that all assessment objectives are met); and researching, planning and writing coursework assignments/dissertations, I additionally have tutored in a similar capacity within the domain of Neuroscience at an undergraduate level (in accordance with my MSc). I have also tutored in English Literature and Language. Having received a 100% grade in my A-Level English Literature examination, I am qualified to provide help to students looking for help in English subjects. My experience in that capacity has mostly involved working with GCSE students and also especially with adult learners, whose native tongue is not English: for these students, I help them improve in reading, writing, comprehension, conversation and overall fluency.

About the lesson

I am especially skilled when it comes to committing large amounts of information to memory. Even though I no longer sit exams, I put into practice the techniques I have used with great success while enrolled at UCL (also undergraduate- BSc Psychology) and during my A-Levels/GCSEs- for example, I set myself the challenge to memorise the entirety of the Love Song of Alfred J. Prufrock, one of my favourite poems, by T.S. Eliot, and surprised myself, knowing it by heart in a matter of hours (it may not sound like much, but if you see the length and complexity of the poem, you`ll see why I was surprised!) I believe that I can share my aptitude for learning the information necessary to excel in examinations with any students I have the opportunity to get to know. I`m friendly, dedicated, punctual, and passionate about the subjects I teach, and the English language. I think I would be quite a useful tool for anyone looking to be well-prepared for A-levels or GCSE examinations, in addition to coursework assignments, dissertations or undergraduate examinations. I believe that everybody has an idiosyncratic and individual method of encoding information, so part of my teaching method is assisting students in understanding what works best for them. As much research has shown, and as I have personally experienced, the process of fully understanding- wrapping one's head around- both the concepts and details that students are required to know in order to answer examination questions, is principally the best route to success, and another element of my teaching method is to allow the student to be aware of how examination essays ought to be structured in order to gain all of the marks available.
