About Charlotte
I’m a 25 year old student, currently in my second year of my degree in English Literature at the University of Sheffield. In the past, I have only had experiencing tutoring mature students in working on their foundation year courses in academic writing, but I am excited to use those skills to teach Literature in a more advanced way.

I believe that understanding and experiencing Literature is subjective and that it should, therefore, be taught by discussing and questioning the text, rather than simply ‘learning’ it. I like to run lessons almost like a mini seminar, asking questions about my students’ reading of a text and discussing and interrogating their theories in order to encourage a thoughtful and critical understanding of literature.
My particular passion is renaissance literature and the classics, but I am happy to work on any text up to GCSE level. Although I am not aware of the curriculum/exam criteria for every exam board, I received full marks in English Literature for both my GCSEs and A-Levels, and am happy to adapt to the student’s requirements.
