About Vanessa
Hello, My name is Vanessa and I am originally from Italy. I am a positive person with a true passion for Linguistics and Classics. I studied both Latin and Ancient Greek for 5 years at Liceo B. Cavalieri, Italy, which is a high school specialising in classical studies. After that, I graduated in Classics (Latin and Greek) from the University of Pavia, where I attended and successfully passed numerous exams of Italian, Latin, and Ancient Greek language, literature, grammar, history of the language, archaeology and even epigraphy, just to name a few. In 2016 I moved to the U.K. to work as an au-pair and then I decided to apply to and successfully completed a Master’s degree in Ancient History at UCL. I am a qualified teacher with a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from the University of Cambridge. Since September 2018 I have been working in secondary schools. I have been working as a private tutor of Latin of students of KS 3-5, following the OCR specification at both GCSE, A-levels, and I.B. I have also tutored many independent learners of Italian, from young children to adults.

I have always had a passion for education and have always been eager to share and convey enthusiasm for the ancient world to others. I genuinely believe that a caring and committed teacher is the key to instilling and spreading interest in a subject and helping the students thrive and understand the beauty and power of education. My experience to date has been gained through tutoring, working, and training at different schools: two mixed-comprehensive academies, a boarding school, and a grammar school. This has provided me with an invaluable insight into different teaching styles and assessment strategies, tailored to pupils’ differing learning needs and circumstances.
