About Simon

salve! I am a Latin and Classical Civilisation Teacher with a First Class BA (Hons) degree from the University of Bristol. After tutoring for many years, my passion for Latin and Greek literature has led me to leave a career in the City to become a full-time teacher at a highly-academic secondary school. It has proved to be the most enjoyable decision of my life. I have 5 years of experience tutoring pupils from Common Entrance to A-level. As well as focusing on essential exam technique, I aim to bring the works of Classical authors to life. These texts are still worth studying today because of how much we can still relate to and learn from them. I specialise in the study of Epic poetry, especially Homer, Virgil and Ovid. However, I am also an enormous fan of Greek Tragedy, and a lover of Cicero's genius oratory and compassionate philosophy. My own education took place at King's College School, Wimbledon, followed by a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Classics from the University of Bristol, and an MA in War Studies from King's College London. I am currently studying a part-time MA in Classics at Birkbeck College. As a teacher, I have a full DBS check, and I am available to travel at weekends and during school holidays.
