About Makeba

From a young age, music has been an intrinsic part of my life. Although initially seen as a punishment by my mother, who urged me to learn the piano, I soon discovered the magic of blending piano melodies with my poetry, transforming music into a unique spoken word that weaves captivating stories.

The process of creation is the true essence of art for me. Crafting narratives and resolving climactic moments with expressive sus4 chords encapsulates the depth of human emotions. As a dedicated composer and arranger, I am driven to infuse musical ambiance into the realms of film and video games, creating immersive experiences for audiences.

Teaching is a heartfelt passion that runs deep in my family. My mother and grandfather were both educators, and I am honored to carry on this legacy. I began teaching at a young age, and my commitment to nurturing young minds through the transformative power of art and music remains unwavering.

My mission is clear—to educate and inspire youth through creative mediums, fostering a new generation of artists and musicians. Join me on this journey of artistic exploration and personal growth.

About the lesson

Unlock your musical potential with Ms. Keba, a classically trained pianist under the esteemed guidance of instructor Lance Thornton. Embracing a fusion of classic and contemporary elements, I am dedicated to crafting personalized lessons that align with each student's unique goals. Learning piano not only enriches your musical abilities but also lays a strong foundation for mastering other instruments such as Trumpet, Violin, Flute, Marimba, Drums, and even vocal training.

Piano, known for its transformative impact, instills valuable discipline in both young and adult learners, fostering self-determination and practical skills to surpass beginner levels.

As a passionate composer and arranger, I am committed to infusing a musical ambiance into the learning experience, enlightening students of all ages about the diverse opportunities that musical proficiency can offer. My expertise spans teaching beginners in drums, piano, vocal training, and music theory, with an emphasis on interactive and engaging teaching methodologies. Unlike many instructors, I prioritize recognizing and nurturing each student's personal style and purpose for learning, encompassing a wide range of musical genres.

Begin your journey to musical excellence with me, and together, we will explore the endless possibilities that music can bring to your life.

Makeba is one of the best teachers I've had. I had other teachers in the past that weren't working. When I was going to give up, I found her and I just love her energy when she teaches! I like how she really listens to the student and uses different examples to explain everything. It's really cool and I think she's a great choice for people who want to learn.
