About Zara

I aim to make tutoring sessions engaging, intellectually stimulating, and, above all, tailored to the individual needs and goals of each student. I believe that the most effective tutoring involves developing the independent analytical and critical skills that enable students to excel.

I pride myself on being approachable, reliable, and thoroughly prepared for every lesson. I'm committed to clear communication, thoughtful preparation, and ensuring that students feel confident in the support I aim to provide. I have prior experience tutoring at all levels advertised.

About the lesson

My teaching methods are structured around each individual student's particular needs, whether that involves consolidating their subject knowledge, improving their essay-writing skills, or exploring more challenging material beyond the curriculum for university applications.

A typical lesson might begin by reviewing previous work and identifying areas for improvement, before moving into guided textual analysis, discussion of literary contexts, or practical exercises in essay-writing and examination technique, etc.

Having experienced Oxford's rigorous tutorial system firsthand, I particularly value the importance of both receiving detailed feedback on written work, and collaborative discussion in a lesson. Indeed, I aim to bring this approach to my own teaching, creating a supportive environment in which students feel comfortable challenging themselves, developing their analytical, critical, and communicative skills, and thus building confidence their over time.

I offer tuition in English (both language and literature) from 11+ admissions through to GCSE and A-Level, as well as support with Oxbridge English admissions, including personal statements, admissions test preparation, and interview practice. I am also happy to support students studying other humanities subjects up to and including A-Level standard, including History and Psychology.
