About Melissa
Hello! I have ten years of experience teaching English as a foreign language. I am qualified both as an EFL teacher (CELTA) and as a UK primary school teacher (PGCE) to tutor all primary school subjects up to age 11, with a specialism in the core subjects: Maths, English and Science.
As an EFL tutor, I specialise in accent reduction, aided by my own ‘received pronunciation’ accent which I also use as a voiceover recording artist for several EFL textbook publishers. I have also prepared students for EFL exams in the past, including KET, PET, FCE, CAE, and Trinity College Graded exams in Spoken English. As an experienced proofreader of English language textbooks and academic papers, I can also aid you with any written assignments or professional memos as part of our lessons together.
In the past, I have worked with students of all ages, including nursery-aged children, primary, highschool and university students, adult professionals and retirees. I have also worked in a wide variety of educational contexts: private language schools (I trained on a postgraduate programme with the British Council), UK primary schools, French and Polish international schools, and one-to-one in students’ offices and homes.
