About Sura
As a current student myself, I will also benefit from teaching my course as it is a form of revision for me since my final exams are coming up. I’ve always enjoyed english literature and I want to teach it as much as I can now before I go on to study a degree in politics which marks the end of my seven year study of english. I encourage students to not only do well in it academically but to also enjoy it since the poetry, plays and novels studied were forms of entertainment and are a form of commentary on human experience which we can all relate to and delight in. I hope that my lessons succeed in making english literature enjoyable for my students.

As an experienced professional teacher, I have noticed with my students that unless the lesson is delivered in an engaging manner they will not learn from it. For this reason I try to incorporate a variety of tasks requiring different skills from students in order to keep the lesson engaging. Although I follow a lecture style for the majority of the lesson with the aid of detailed presentations, I include a variety of tasks which encourage students to use their knowledge as a form of active recall. I will target the areas each student individually struggled in with tailored lessons. My content focuses on students between the age of 16-18, especially those with an AQA exam board and the plays i have studied the most include The Tempest, A Streetcar Named Desire and The Duchess of Malfi. I have studied Larkins poetry collection “The Whitsun wedding” and Duffys “Meantime” and I am confident in unseen material such as unseen poems and both victorian and modern day literature extracts. I like to keep the lessons short to optimise engagement and they last between one to one and half an hour. i will provide students with sample essay and material.
