About Emillie
I am an English Literature undergraduate student at the University of Manchester. I completed A-levels in English Literature, History and Psychology and also completed an Extended Project Qualification, focusing on the relationship between poetry and song lyrics. I have always loved English literature and language, hence my decision to read it at university. In the future I hope to go into teaching, or into a career within publishing or media. In my spare time I work as a self-employed transcriber and so I have excellent comprehension of the English language. Alongside reading for pleasure, I also write music and enjoy performing it.
Although I have no formal teaching experience, as I am an undergraduate student, I have plenty of experience volunteering in primary schools helping children learn to read. Throughout my education I have done this and I find it extremely rewarding because I can see how the children are improving. The experience I have gained by volunteering has been second-to-none. I was frequently tasked with teaching the most academically challenged children in the school, often those around 8-10 years of age with a reading age of 4 or 5.
I have also tutored my cousins, aged 11 and 13 currently, for a few years. This was also voluntary but I find that I enjoy tutoring children of an older age because their understanding is often better than the younger children.

I am offering lessons in English literature and language for primary school children to A-level students. My lessons are tailored to each individual student, in a way that will aid their development and progression in English. My main aims during the lessons are to establish what level the student is working at (the quality of their writing, grammatically, etc.), to complete practice questions, for those students sitting exams, and to discuss and practice exam technique and essay writing.
