About Madeleine
I am an English Literature graduate from the University of Sheffield, currently working as an ESL teacher for Chinese primary school students. I am TEFL-qualified and have experience teaching English language to a variety of ages. As a private tutor, I have taught a diverse range of students. For example, I have helped high school students with their English Literature and Language GCSEs, and taught English language skills to foreign university students. I am able to teach any subject related to English language or literature, such as essay writing, creative writing, grammar, and preparing for 11+ exams.

As a teacher, I approach lessons with enthusiasm, creativity and a coherent sense of structure. I recognise the importance of thorough planning, and give clear objectives for my students to work towards. I take a flexible approach, tailoring each lesson plan to the needs of an individual student, while always creating a fun and dynamic classroom environment. I recognise that students all have a unique way of learning, so I aim to adapt my teaching methods in order to get the best out of an individual. I also believe in the importance of building confidence as well as learning new skills, so I try to create an atmosphere where students are always encouraged to take risks and are aware that mistakes are valuable in the learning process. Feedback is also vital to the learning process, so I make sure to give detailed and consistent feedback during lessons, so that students fully understand their achievements and which areas may require more attention.
