About Catharine
I have worked as an online tutor before during my degree at MyTutor, but now I've graduated I want to come back to it on the side of freelancing as a screenwriter for film and TV.
As a creative writer, I've always loved bringing a creative approach to lessons, and have worked with students from the age of 5 to 15. However, after completing university with a 1st class degree and a 1st in my dissertation, I am very able to help with any essay writing/ dissertation work at BA level.
In my spare time, I love reading, writing and playing the violin, as well as being a full time tea drinker! My favourite books include 'Kitchen' by Banana Yoshimoto, 'The Great Gatsby' by F. Scott. Fitzgerald and, of course, 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle.

I love to employ a creative and laid back approach to lessons. There is no such thing as a silly question! With academic writing and English Literature, I like to get a really clear idea of structure and essay language technique while still embracing the creative possibilities of the subject. My areas of speciality include modern American Literature, The English Romantics and modern experimental women's literature, but I've done a bit of everything!
As I was at school myself in the last four years, I am very familiar with the A level structure, and am able to teach common entrance level English as well, after gaining work experience as a teacher at my old primary school, Glendower, in London. I also have experience teaching reading to children as young as 5, so my age range for English Literature/essay writing sits best at 5-21.
A typical class with me will span one hour, or two hours with a ten minute break in between upon request.
