About James
James Braun is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, one of the best writing programs worldwide. His writing has appeared in venues such as The Missouri Review, Fiction International, Puerto del Sol, DIAGRAM, Bayou Magazine, filling Station, and elsewhere. James is the recipient of the John Logan Poetry Prize.

My teaching style is student-first, catered to each individual's needs and how they learn best, in order to further their academic development in the most efficient way possible. I believe learning is a kind of conversation between teacher and student, one where both parties are able to engage with the material at hand in a meaningful and open manner. A typical lesson plan might involve a combination of reading and analytical/comprehension work, identifying literary devices such as allegory, motif, metaphor, and characterization, though each lesson will be, as aforementioned, catered to the individual's needs and goals for learning. My candidness and patience sets me apart from most teachers––I'm willing to work with students for as long as they need for them to understand the material at hand. My lessons are for all ages, though I specialize in college-level work, as I have a Master's in English and have much experience teaching at the college level.
