About Cory
After many years of gigging, teaching, and producing concerts in Toronto, I have moved to The Hague to pursue a Master's degree at the Royal Conservatoire. My main interests lie in Early Music and Contemporary Classical music, but my curiosity extends widely across traditions and genres.
As a performer, I am classically trained on the cello, yet my studies have also included training with musicians from the Indian Carnatic, Iranian classical, and jazz traditions. In addition to performing, I am an active composer, with my music performed regularly in the Netherlands, across Europe, and abroad. My creative work has brought me into contact with a wide range of musicians, artists, filmmakers, and poets. This breadth of experience and perspective is one of my strengths, both as an artist and as a teacher.

My name is Cory, and I am a cellist originally from Toronto, Canada. I offer cello lessons in person in The Hague, remotely online, or at your location (for an additional travel fee).
I have been playing since childhood and teaching and performing since 2011. Classically trained, I have also collaborated with musicians from a wide range of traditions: jazz, rock, folk, early music, and Iranian and Syrian classical/pop. While my teaching is rooted in classical technique and repertoire, I bring perspectives from other traditions to provide a broad, well-rounded education.
A key part of my teaching philosophy is nurturing creativity. Alongside repertoire, lessons may include composition, improvisation, and music theory, which I believe are valuable skills for musicians at every level.
