About Daniel
I'm a people-person - I love chatting and intellectual discussion, ranging across many different interests from literature to drama to film to music to politics. I enjoy teaching because you can learn from your students' own interests and areas of special knowledge, and nurture their individual style of writing. I love English because it allows personality to shine through in writing and discussion. Although I do not wish to pursue academia any further, I still want to be able to talk about English all the time! I'm also excited to share all my amazing experience and knowledge with other people!

I tailor my teaching style to each student based on what they need to work on - and most importantly what interests them! At university I did my dissertation on the UK rapper Skepta and an optional module on Film Criticism, so I know how to make English exciting and relevant for young people, and can teach my students how to show off their own personality through written work and interviews, to impress examiners and set themselves apart as a well-rounded individual with specific interests suited to an academic context. I take my teaching style from the Oxford tutorial system which involves 1-to-1 discussion and real-time close-reading. I've gained my experience from exchanging essays with my peers and giving feedback, debating ideas and suggesting how else they might write an essay. I've had lots of experience in mentoring younger students at university and at school. The typical length of my lessons is 1 hour, but I'm happy to spend as long as a student wants or needs. My lessons are for young people aged 15-18 i.e. GCSE-A Level.
