About Joseph
My name is Joseph Barone and I hold a BA in English from Rowan University. I also hold a 120 hour TEFL certificate and CUGS certificate (Japanese and French). I have taught English and ESL both abroad and in America, and have also taught Japanese and French at beginner and intermediate levels. I love learning about different languages and cultures and absolutely love to travel. I also write original poetry in my free time and love to read as well as listen to music, practice photography, and going for long walks/ hikes. I am also an avid meditator.

Languages in which the lesson is available :

I will ask the student what aspects of English they find challenging and we will focus on these areas. I can also help a student with their test prep and practice as well. If a student would like to do a "mock run" of the exam, I would be glad to help in this way as well.
For vocabulary:
we will focus on the spelling of specific words as well as their meaning.
Because some words may be unfamiliar to the student, we will also practice using these words in sentences and to strengthen the student's context skills.
For essay writing:
I will help the student focus on essay writing for this portion.
Because there are different essays the student may have to write, I will help the student outline the essay as well.
I will also help a student to analyze reading prompts so that they understand the focus of the essay.
For grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation:
We will review basic as well as more advanced sentence structures and grammatical devices.
I will help the student break down problem sentences and will help them to see the complete idea of the sentence.
I will have the student practice their own writing using the grammatical and sentence structure skills they have reviewed (or learned) with me.
