About Owami

I hold a BA in English, Psychology, and Anthropology and a PGCE from the University of Pretoria, and I am SACE registered.
I have 1 year and 4 months of formal teaching experience in English Home Language, having taught at Curro Helderwyk, Empangeni High School and Curro Secunda.

About the lesson

I offer English tutoring for Grades 8–12, with experience in both CAPS and IEB curriculum.

My experience includes working with Grades 8–12, preparing learners for assessments, and supporting Matric learners within the IEB system. I have taught and worked with texts such as Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice, Things Fall Apart, Othello, and To Kill a Mockingbird, focusing on literature analysis and structured essay writing.

In addition, I bring 2 years of tutoring and leadership experience through the University of Pretoria’s Tuks Leadership and Individual Programme (TULIP), where I tutored learners across five secondary schools in Pretoria and later served as Head of External Communication. This experience strengthened my ability to work with diverse learners and adapt my teaching to different academic needs.
