About Zachary
I am a Christian and lover of God and people, but I do not bring judgement and am happy to help students from any backgrounds.
My education in English Literature and Biblical Studies helps me to teach students the importance of critical thinking, proper style/grammar, and the organization of thought on paper. These three core areas of instruction are tempered by my caring, positive, and kind personality. I have high expectations for my pupils, but those expectations are to be exceeded and are never an excuse for anger or derision. As a life-long learner, I am always reading and keeping up to date with professional materials for my career in education.

I have ample experience in tutoring, working with students of all skill-levels. My passion is helping others develop the fundamental skills necessary for success in school; through a laser-focus on the means of learning, I have successfully improved the ends of good grades. Using creative metaphors, personalized instruction, and the careful use of technology I have found students can thrive in a tutoring environment, becoming exceptional where they were struggling. It is my goal as a tutor not just to push the right content, but to impart strategies that will lead to good grades year-after-year.
I work with what the individual student needs and am also willing to try a variety of methods just to find out what learning strategies are the most impactful for the student. The one thing I will never do is the work for the student. I am in the business of teaching to fish, not selling them.
