About Grace
I'm passionate about helping students to find real enjoyment and creativity within the structures of examination requirements. It's important with English Literature and Language to have fun with the essay questions and stretch yourself creatively, while still ticking all those boxes. I grew up without a TV and went to an international school, so I've always loved reading and trying to understand the nuts and bolts of different languages. My experience in different school systems has really taught me the value of enjoying the learning you're doing. I find I'm most likely to remember facts and information when I'm emotionally engaged in and excited by the content. I know a lot of the English literature classics can seem intimidating, and some are difficult to decipher, but once you understand how to decode Shakespeare or Keats, you'll see they're doing some really cool things! I'd love to get excited about them with you too.

Lessons are typically no longer than an hour, and can be adjusted to meet your needs. Lessons may include discussing the structure and themes of a particular text that a student is working on at school, sketching out an essay plan for an exam question, or practising close reading and language play with shorter passages. We'll focus on exam technique, and learning how to have fun with language. I received a grade 9 in my English Literature GCSE, and an A* in my English Literature A-level. I am now a first-class student at the University of Oxford. I have experience as a teaching assistant at both primary and secondary level, and enjoy helping others grow in their learning. I also have experience working with students with additional learning needs, such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia. Part of the fun of English is looking at things from lots of different perspectives, so there's always room for a wide range of thinking patterns!
