About Chloe

I am a highly-qualified, passionate, driven and caring language teacher with an excellent academic and professional track record. I have a Master’s degree in TESOL, experience of teaching a diverse range of learners of all ages and abilities, from beginners to PhD students. I have taught large classes, small groups and individuals, both face-to-face and online. My lessons are almost always graded ‘Outstanding’ in the UK system thanks to my creative, dynamic, learner-centred approach to teaching and my thorough subject knowledge.

Multi-culturalism is immensely important to me and I thrive on interaction with those from different backgrounds and those who may have had contrasting life experiences to my own. I am an open-minded, honest, caring and hard-working individual who always strives for the best outcomes for students. I find watching students progress linguistically and develop their confidence extremely rewarding.

I am passionate about striking the balance between accuracy and fluency and I have developed progressive techniques to help students overcome the most problematic areas of language learning such as phrasal verbs and idiomatic language. My Master’s thesis (2011) focused on using conceptual metaphors to teach phrasal verbs and I am always seeking out new ways of using practitioner research to improve teaching methodologies.

I have had some of my teaching resources published online for reputable educational companies and have organised highly successful cultural exchanges in the past. I believe that my status as a linguist and lifelong learner of languages enables me to easily empathise with students of English. I have a sound understanding of the techniques that work best for different types of learners and a strong belief in the benefits of the immersion method.
