About Ben

Corporate & Business English Trainer | Experienced Secondary School Teacher in Accounting, Business Economics and Economics | International Business Professional

I am a Corporate and Business English Trainer with a 150-hour TEFL/TESOL qualification and more than 30 years of professional experience spanning education, adult training, corporate communication, project and programme management, business analysis and international business. With a background in secondary school teaching, I also offer tuition in Accounting, Business Economics and Economics.

My strength lies in combining formal teaching and training experience with practical corporate knowledge. Having worked closely with executives, managers, consultants, business users and multidisciplinary teams, I understand the communication demands professionals face. I draw on this experience to make learning clear, relevant and applicable to both academic study and the workplace.

Throughout my career, I have translated complex business and technical information into accessible explanations, structured training and practical guidance. My experience includes:

Teaching and learner development: Teaching Accounting, Business Economics and Economics, preparing structured lessons, and providing individual guidance and learner support.

Employee and systems training: Developing lesson plans and individual career plans, delivering practical demonstrations, and supporting workplace learning.

SAP professional training: Delivering SAP Production Planning training to adult professionals, explaining complex processes, and supporting examination preparation.

Executive and stakeholder communication: Presenting to senior leaders, Executive Committees and Steering Committees, facilitating business discussions, and communicating project progress, risks and decisions.

International collaboration: Working with clients, colleagues and stakeholders across South Africa, other African countries, the USA, the UK, Australia, India, Singapore, Europe, Chile and Saudi Arabia.

My teaching and training foundation includes my role as Teacher and Training Officer at Lyttleton Engineering Works, from January 1989 to October 1994, where I combined subject teaching with employee development and systems training. In 2000, I further developed my adult education experience as an SAP Production Planning Trainer, delivering structured professional training, practical demonstrations and examination support.

My subsequent corporate career has strengthened my ability to communicate with confidence, adapt to different audiences and guide people through complex information and organisational change. This provides a strong foundation for helping professionals develop English skills for:

Business meetings, presentations and stakeholder discussions.

Executive communication and project status reporting.

Professional emails, reports and other business writing.

Interviews, negotiations and difficult conversations.

Cross-cultural communication and international teamwork.

I bring a professional, patient and practical approach to teaching. I adapt lessons and explanations to each learner’s level, needs and goals—whether they are developing subject knowledge, preparing for examinations or improving their professional English. Comfortable working remotely across countries, cultures and time zones, I aim to help learners build the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in their studies and communicate with clarity and credibility in the workplace.
