About Shannon

I have studied Art History since A-Level, and fell in love with the subject right away. The ability to read an artwork and understand it within its context is a very powerful thing. As I studied the subject at undergraduate and postgraduate level, my curiosity deepened and I was keen to apply what I had learnt in a practical way. I now work at an art auction house, and see wonderful works of art come through our doors every day. We research the works, their place in history, and present them among other works to create a narrative in our exhibitions. Being a part of the art market is one part of literally making art history. I am keen to share everything I have learnt academically and professionally with the next generation of art historians, in the hope that they will also go on to find as much joy as I do in the world of art.

About the lesson

I provide informative and engaging lessons with a wealth of academic experience and real-world examples of an ever-changing art market. I pride myself on understanding what examiners are looking for, and translating this into exciting sessions, with particular emphasis on the student’s own interests within the field. Art history is inseparable from the present-day display, research, and exchange of art, and so my lessons also look at how art history impacts us today - an important context which will set apart the student’s understanding and writing of art history.
