About Darci
I hold a BA in Anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Public Administration from the US's #1 MPA program at Syracuse University. I am currently a PhD candidate in Political Science, with a specialization in International Relations and Public Policy. I have eight years of experience guiding students to success from the elementary to university level. As an after-school science teacher, I used hands-on experiments to teach the scientific method and to encourage students to think creatively and question their own assumptions about how the world works. Through university teaching, I have guided students to find their own unique visions for completing coursework, and beyond. I have won multiple grants and fellowships from organizations such as the National Science Foundation and the National Security Education Program and can advise students on how to find appropriate fellowships and create winning application essays and proposals. I passed the Foreign Service Officer written and oral exams, and although "coaching" is not permitted for these exams, I can advise prospective FSOs on how to maximize their own preparation.

Learning should be engaging, interactive, and occur in an environment of mutual respect and professionalism, particularly at the high school and college levels. I utilize games, simulations, stories, examples, and creative projects to enhance learning, rather than relying on rote memorization. My job is to develop and nurture inquisitiveness, exploration, and discovery. Learning should be more than just remembering and repeating others' arguments. Instead, it should catalyze the students' discovery of their own passions and interests, and encourage them to understand and form their own arguments.

Details
I will travel up to five (5) miles for no additional fee. Travel over five (5) miles will be billed using the IRS standard rate for mileage compensation of 54.5 cents per mile. In the event you would like to cancel a session, I request at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations within 24 hours will be charged at the full rate.
