About Emma B
Hi, I’m Emma B: a PGCE-qualified tutor with over ten years’ experience working in education, across teaching, programme development, and student support.
I’ve always been passionate about helping people learn and grow in confidence.
Alongside tutoring I’ve worked in a range of educational roles, designing programmes and supporting students from different backgrounds and with a wide range of learning needs.
I’m particularly interested in how people learn, and I bring that into my tutoring.
I aim to make sessions feel supportive, engaging, and tailored to you—whether you’re aiming to improve your grades, develop your writing, or simply feel more confident in your abilities.
I also have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and I adapt my approach to suit different learning styles.

My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs.
At the start, we’ll identify your goals—whether that’s improving essay writing, preparing for exams, or building confidence in English or History. Each session is then designed to help you make clear, measurable progress towards those goals.
A typical lesson might include:
- Reviewing a topic or text together
- Breaking down key ideas in a clear, manageable way
- Practising skills such as essay structure, analysis, or exam technique
- Working through questions with guidance and feedback.
I place a strong emphasis on building confidence. I create a relaxed environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas, without pressure.
For exam students, I also focus on:
- How to structure high-quality answers
- Time management and exam strategies
- Understanding what examiners are looking for.
I adapt my teaching to suit different learning styles, including supporting students with SEND, and I aim to make each lesson engaging, focused, and productive.
