About Liza

My name is Eliza (they/them), and I am a non-binary singer-songwriter and vocal coach based in Brighton and Hove. I got a degree in performing arts and over 10 years of experience as a singer.
As someone who has been in the industry for a while, I know how important it is to find a vocal coach who provides a safe space for the artist to experience their full potential. This is what inspired me to start my teaching career.
I especially want to provide a safe space for queer and trans artists since this industry is still very heteronormative, which I have also experienced first-hand. As an example, I can help you find your range without thinking about gendered terms such as baritone, tenor or soprano. What matters is that we find and work on your voice so it can become an easily accessible tool for you.

About the lesson

All my lessons are tailored for the individual, from hobby singers to those pursuing a career in the arts and my lessons are usually 60 minutes long. As well, I find it extremely important to keep my lessons LGBTQ-friendly, by using gender-neutral terminology where possible and by not reinforcing gender stereotypes that are still present in the industry.

Besides teaching traditional vocal techniques, I also like to focus on freeing up the voice and connecting the mind and the body. Through this approach, I have seen my students thrive.
