About Catherine

I am an internationally trained professional violinist and master pedagogue with over 30 years of global teaching experience.
My career spans continents, giving me a deep, international perspective on string pedagogy.
I specialize in the preparation of students for high-level examinations (including advanced AMEB and diplomas), competitive auditions, and elite music competitions.
Throughout my three decades of teaching, I have successfully guided hundreds of students to prestigious music scholarships, youth orchestra concertmaster chairs, and top-tier competition placements.
My teaching philosophy blends rigorous European methodology with decades of refined practical insight, specializing in high-level technique, performance mindset, and advanced repertoire styling.
My musical foundation includes a Postgraduate Degree from the prestigious Royal College of Music (RCM) in London as a Solo and Ensemble Recitalist. Prior to my time in the UK, I was awarded First Prize from a renowned French Conservatoire and hold an official Violin Teaching Qualification issued by the French Government.

Beyond the studio, I am a passionate researcher and writer on string pedagogy. I am the author of a comprehensive textbook focused entirely on Tone Production on the Violin, and my research has been accepted for publication in the globally renowned string player's journal, The Strad.

Whether preparing an ambitious young player for a career-defining audition, a high-level competition, or mentoring a mature adult returning to the instrument, I bring three decades of international performance and elite academic expertise to every individual Sunday session

We systematically break down exam requirements, including comprehensive coverage of repertoire interpretation, scales, technical exercises, aural training, and sight-reading.

State-of-the-Art Online Setup:
Lessons are conducted using high-fidelity audio configurations via Google Meet or Facetime to ensure crystal-clear pitch, tone, and articulation assessment.

Custom Learning Resources:
Students receive digital breakdowns, personalized weekly practice goals, and exclusive access to my custom-published violin coursebook.

I welcome highly motivated school-aged students (preparing for AMEB Grade 2 up to Associate/Licentiate Diplomas, school scholarships, and competitions) as well as dedicated adult professional learners looking to polish advanced repertoire or return to the instrument at a high level.
